Elementary Kids Meet Up - Today, following service in cafe'

Families of kids aged 6-11 are invited to join the Elementary Kids Meetup small group today following service. We’ll meet in the café for lunch, a fun group project, and a conversation about faith and life. Talk to Rafael & LaVon Mejia to learn more (203) 545-9981.

Vineyard Kids Summer Volunteers Needed

Everyone is invited to serve in our kids program for a Sunday or two while our teachers are on summer break. Toddlers will spend most Sundays outside in our playground area, and our elementary kids have lego-themed lessons to follow. Look for sign-up sheets in the lobby, and please be sure to fill out a background check form before you leave. (Blue forms are for those who are brand new to helping with the children’s ministry, and the white forms are for returning volunteers).

Vineyard Clothing Exchange - Last chance!

Today is the last day to see if you and/or your family could use any of the clean, gently used clothing items (shoes and all), that our congregants have donated for both children and adult members of the Vineyard family. Tables are set up down the long hallway adjacent to our parking lot. All items left over after today will be donated this week. If you are able, please stick around after the service to help bag them up for pick up. Please see Liz Ludwig-Borycz if you have any questions.

Vineyard Kids Leadership Transitions

Kaitie Giza, who has been a faithful leader of our Children's Ministry for several years, will be embarking on a new chapter in her life as she gets married and relocates later this summer. Kaitie has been a cherished part of our church since 2019 and joined our staff in October 2021 to help Pastor Marissa oversee and run the Children's Ministry. Kaitie's care, creativity, and dedication have left an indelible mark on our community. While we will miss her presence, we are overjoyed for her and wish her all the best in this new journey.

Please join us in welcoming Barb Hillaker, who will be stepping into the role of Children's Ministry Director. We are confident that Barb will continue to build on the strong foundation that Kaitie has established.

VineyardUSA Resource - We Are Vineyard Podcast

Geno Olison - Senior Pastor, South Suburban Vineyard Church

In this episode of We Are Vineyard, Jay chats with Geno Olison about growing up as the son of church planters in the south side of Chicago, being raised in an exclusively Black community, and how he was formed by his involvement in church as a young boy. Geno shares how the Lord protected him from a lot of things his neighborhood offered, the culture shock he experienced after joining a small group with white kids at college, and his journey of trying to find himself as an adult while not losing himself as a Black man in a predominately white space. They discuss what it’s like to attend a church where the table has not been set with you in mind, the ways he found to meet his cultural needs while attending the Vineyard, and why he decided to stay even though it was often painful. Finally, Geno shares about how his expectations of church planting compared to reality, and why he’s hopeful about Vineyard USA’s Black Pastors and Leaders Association.

Giving

If you think of Vineyard as your church home, giving regularly is a way to be a part of the work we’re doing in and outside of our church. We love that we get to play a part in the generosity God extends to others through our benevolence fund, Easter giveaway, Sunday celebrations, ministry of presence, and more. You made it happen through your prayers, service, and financial gifts!
